Position Summary
The Operations Manager is a key leadership role responsible for managing staff, ensuring service quality, and overseeing operational performance. This position requires deep industry knowledge, strong leadership, and exceptional organizational skills.
This is not an entry-level management role — it carries significant responsibility and influence in the company’s success. The ideal candidate will be experienced, personable, and capable of inspiring confidence among staff and customers alike.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of experienced lawn care technicians.
• Manage all personnel processes, including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
• Communicate with customers to resolve concerns, diagnose lawn health issues, and recommend treatment plans.
• Manage warehouse operations, product inventory, and supply ordering.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated for accurate application rates.
• Track production metrics and ensure efficient scheduling and route management.
• Maintain detailed records of service performance and product usage.
• Assist with product selection, program development, and staff training initiatives.
• Uphold Lawn Works’ commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
• Minimum 4 years of experience in residential lawn care management or golf course turf management.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in turf management, horticulture, or related field (preferred), or a Turf Management Certificate from an accredited university.
• Proven leadership and staff management experience.
• Strong working knowledge of turfgrass management, fertilizers, and weed control products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding time management, organization, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Real Green or other green industry software.
• Valid driver’s license (required)
• Illinois Pesticide Applicator’s License (required)

Preferred Experience
• Previous experience as a Lawn Care Operations Manager, Branch Manager, Service Manager, Turfgrass Superintendent, or Golf Course or Sports Field Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
• Familiarity with residential lawn care programs, customer service management, and crew supervision.
