WNG Coffee Talk – Central Region

Picket Fence Foundation

Chillicothe

 IL

Join the Central Region Women’s Networking Group for a Coffee Talk!

The purpose of Coffee Talks is to provide smaller, more intimate gatherings where participants can spend some time discussing relevant, timely topics and get to know each other better. Each Coffee Talk will have a pre-determined discussion topic to get things started. Where it goes from there is up to the participants. There is no fee to attend Coffee Talks.

At this month’s Coffee Talk, we’ll get a tour of the Picket Fence Foundation and learn more about how they are making work in the horticulture industry more accessible to adults with disabilities in the Peoria area.

Hosted by: Katie Fence, Executive Director of Picket Fence Foundation

The Picket Fence Foundation is a nonprofit full-service floral, gift and garden center, making meaningful work much more accessible by providing training and employment opportunities to adults with disabilities. The gift shop is home to the Ability Marketplace featuring beautiful products made by children & adults with disabilities from around the country. Picket Fence Foundation in Chillicothe, IL, was founded in 2021 by Jim and Laura Sniff. Their son, Jimmy, has Autism. The Sniffs discovered a troubling lack of services and work programs for people like Jimmy. So they set out to bring opportunities to this community on their farm through their flagship nonprofit, Blue Ridge Community Farm, and now Picket Fence Foundation.
