This client desired their new-build home and garden be a welcoming, family-friendly space that reflects their love of community. Our design team collaborated with the architect and builder over three years to bring this vision to light. This site has its challenges, including a high water table that we mediated by installing additional drainage under the lawn, and a client request for a conifer-free plant palette. Instead, you’ll find a wide variety of deciduous selections throughout the site. Strategically placed terraces and garden vignettes, equally appreciated from the inside of the home as from the outside, allow the homeowner to optimize the use of their urban space. On any given day, you can find the homeowners and their neighbors enjoying the array of plant textures and colors, conversing in one of many seating areas, running across the verdant lawn, and practicing hoops in a backyard dedicated to play.
