House & Garden Revitalization

By Bertog Landscape

Revitalizing this German Tudor house and its aging garden spaces was a primary objective for the new homeowners of this North Shore estate. With the home's exterior now painted white, a garden wall with wrought iron topper panels was constructed along the public walkway. creating a seamless connection between the home's architecture and the surrounding landscape. A declining large Maple tree was removed from the front yard and was replaced with a grove of single-stem white birch. Lush garden beds, offering dramatic textures and color with the changing seasons, are used to soften the garden’s wall and wrap around the home's foundation. A rear bluestone terrace along with an outdoor kitchen is the perfect space for family gatherings. The extensive hardscape changes required striking a perfect balance between functionality, aesthetics and meeting strict code guidelines regarding impervious surface restrictions.
