Summer Oasis in Ravenswood

This stately home came to us with a mature landscape at grade, and tight hardscape circulation throughout the site. We made the most of the limited space by sticking to a simple palette of striking textures, repeated throughout, creating a sequence of indoor/outdoor layered views and experiences. The huge, distinctive fronds of macho ferns and bird-of-paradise pair with the variegated leaves of spider plants to create a sense of playful elegance. Each furniture grouping is nestled within large planters to create multiple “living room” zones around the yard, and this gesture is reinforced by applying the same treatment to the screened three-season room. A similar pair of large planters flanks the front entry to the home, drawing a continuous thread from start to finish.
