City Escape

This downtown Chicago high-rise apartment has it all: an incredible skyline view, a private garden space overlooking Millennium Park, and a contemporary interior. The developer installed an "Asian Garden Space" during construction, and the new owners wanted to transform it into a contemporary space that complemented their style and interior. The redevelopment of this 23rd-floor terrace was a daunting task due to limited accessibility, space constraints, and scheduling restrictions. Demolition involved breaking down oversized granite boulders and transporting existing decorative gravel and other materials by hand via freight elevator to awaiting trucks. All new plantings, hardscape, and engineered soils were installed during restricted hours to avoid disturbing residents. The result is a beautiful garden paradise, a "City Escape" with panoramic views of downtown Chicago and the lakefront.
