The Village of Wheeling is known for its Chicago Executive Airport, “Restaurant Row”, and Friendship Park. Supporting the city’s mission to provide beautiful public spaces for its diverse community, landscape teams work weekly to tend to all the public garden spaces and turf. Acres of turf are tended to through a specified program of fertilization and broadleaf weed management, grub control and weekly mowing and edging during the growing season. Seasonal color rotations create a display of vibrant flowers to showcase the public spaces allowing Friendship Park to be a focal point for the community to celebrate and photograph moments amongst the beauty of the well-maintained park. In addition to annual spaces, the village is home to large landscape spaces throughout. Proper plant management, mulching and care of perennials, trees, and shrubs seasonally has allowed the space to soar and create a green backdrop for the beautiful city.
