The client aimed to convert a mismatched English garden-style multi-use area into a modern urban oasis destination, catering to diverse functions, including residences, storefronts, offices, and event spaces. This challenge required a thoughtful redesign to accommodate the multifaceted use of space while streamlining its aesthetic and functionality. Our solution involved transitioning from heavy annual plantings to a sustainable selection of shrubs, ground covers, perennials, and limited annual bed rotations, thus addressing beauty and budget constraints. By replacing eclectic, colorful containers with uniform, sleek black ones and repositioning them to optimize space utility and pedestrian flow, we improved maintenance efficiency and reinforced the area's new identity. Removing chainlink bollards in favor of closely placed containers further unified the space. Through these strategic choices, the outcome met and exceeded client expectations, establishing a cohesive and inviting urban oasis.
